Thread Starter | Logic 7 -- solve 1 virtual instrument using multiple MIDI outputs
Hi Slutz: Trying to solve this, can't find answer on the web or manual. I am using Logic 7 Express, and I am trying to integrate MOTU's Symphonic Orchestra or any virtual instrument. (Yes the MOTU Symphonic Instrument has multiple MIDI channel outputs, and they were assigned properly for this effort). If I have two or more tracks on the arrange screen for any one virtual instrument, I know in theory that I should be able to choose "MIDI Channel 1" for one, and "MIDI Channel 2" for the second, and so on. But changing the actual MIDI channel for any one track in Logic is affecting all the other tracks for that instrument. Choosing "MIDI Channel 1" for the first track makes all tracks become "MIDI Channel 1". What is causing this, and how might I solve? There is nothing MIDI-related connected to the computer, and I believe the environment is an original autoload. Thanks in advance for response(s)! |

have u tried creating a multi instrument in the environment? there are 2 ways. open the environment and create a multi instrument and then an audio object and make it instrument 1 and load the MOTU VI. then cable the multi instrument into the motu VI and in the arrange you should be able to select the name of the layer (audio object) and then any of the 16 midi chanels. 2nd way is to load an audio object with he motu VI on a new enviroenmtn layer and copy it 16 times (option drag) then select each one and give it a midi nu mber 1-16. now u can go to the arrange page and create one of the track you made on the environemt. (click and hold on the track and navigate through the drop down menu to MOTU inst. 1) and then another to MOTU ch2 etc. |

manofsong, If I understand you correct the problem is that you want one instance of the plugin, load several patches in that plugin and have the regions lined up in arrange. Say, like several parts playing from Instrument 1. For playback, just create more tracks of Instrument 1 in Arrange by marking it and then hit enter while holding Ctrl. Select Channel "All". After you recorded the first region, open it in Event List, select all events and set Channel to 1 for these events. For the next part and region, make sure you select Channel 2. And so on. Note that the settings for Instrument 1 remains at Channel "All". Now it should playback properly. /mh |

Guys, those are great solutions! Thanks so much for your responses, I've got the VI working the way I need now. Further respect to Logic's capabilities (although the mental gymnastics nearly gave me siezures). ![]() |
