Playing Pro Tools sessions from external drive

When I go to 'Workspace' in Pro Tools to open a session off an external hard drive I get the error message, "'My Book(the drive)' cannot be designated as an Audio Record volume becaues it is not a valid audio volume." What does this mean?

ive had the same problem.. i had to change my hd from a dynamic disk to a basic disk in disk management. then change it in pro tools to make it a record volume. make sure theres nothing important on the drive b4 u do it tho, i learned the hard way :(
