Need quick help recording soft synth in PT LE

Im trying to record Ivory in PT LE controlled by my Motif. Everything seems to be routed correctly and I can hear sound, but nothing will record on the audio track. The MIDI track's input is set to the Motif and its output to Ivory-1-1. Ivory is inserted on the audio track, but nothing is being routed in the audio track. With the 'Record' button enabled, the meters don't move and nothing records, but if I disarm it, the meters will move...but then of course I cna't record....help!

Inserts are post the hard drive. You need to put ivory on an aux track and route the aux track to an audio track.

You could also put ivory on an instrument track and then just route the instrument track to an audio track.

Signal flow would be.

keyboard midi > midi track>ivory on aux track > output of aux track > audio track

Record arm audio track and hit record.

(might want to be in input only monitor so the transport does not have to be moving to monitor ivory)

Hope that helps

I tried setting it up that way and it won't work. Pro Tools has been acting really screwey since updating to OSX 10.4.10. I can't even get one soft synth on my G5 without Pro Tools 'Losing Communication with the 002." How do I find out what firmware im on??

Hmmm, Pro Tools is not qualified to run on 10.4.10.

Follow the advice linked here and see if that helps.

What he said.
10.4.10 is not qualified.
10.4.9 with 7.3 cs 3

Never auto update os x when running pro-tools. IF you just bought the computer the disks that came with it are 10.4.9. Install that.

Good Luck!
