Question best way to store and stream large sample libraries? no clue about this one....

i would like to invest in some good East-West instrument samples including the QL Pianos collection (when it finally if ever comes out) and perhaps a string library.
the QL Pianos collection alone is over 150GB.

what is the best way to setup external hard-disk streaming and storage of large sample libraries assuming i only want to run one computer?
are external rackmount FW drives (like Glyph GT-Series keys etc) acceptable to store and stream samples from or is there a faster (but still financially reasonable) solution?

on a second note, any experiences with the Muse Receptor Pro in a studio setting for this purpose?

tia!

I built a Giga machine with RAID 0 Arrays with WD Raptor 10k drives. Seems that's the way to go. I also have a FW800 LaCie 2TB external drive that works just as well. It's also configured in a RAID 0 Array.

Regards,
Bruce

If you want instant access I would listen to DSD_Mastering's recommendation (however make sure you are ALWAYS redundantly backed up, ALWAYS!) but if you are ok with swapping drives the Glyph rack mountable ones are a good solution that grows with you and you can expand when you need to... if you buy one of the three bay ones, you can have a master drive, a backup drive and a library drive in there and just swap when you need to (but remember to backup the library too!)

database

hi guys, its something im working on myself, im using a sata 1tb drive for all my audio and sound database and ive been using flash pro 8 as the platform to load up kontakt 5 programs. i did try the c++ but its way over my head. im currently saving up for a raid setup to backup all my data, and ill be trying to get hold of 2 other 2tb or maybe 3tb drives. ive got a lot of sources to call up, and thought the coolist way to sort the database would be flash media.

flash is used for a graphic ui, and links to my drive, best job yet. laterz
