insight- apogee symphony system PLEASE HELP

the complaint was always that digi had a closed system not leting anyone else in(hard/software).

now looking at the options with apogee symphony:

the rosettas can only do EITHER digital or analog. cant add any digital interfaced unit without giving up all your analog... what's the idea...

cant interface with the symphony card anything BUT 3 different models of apogee(in opposed to Lynx that is all aes compatible, bring in whatever you like).

any thoughts or insight on that?

scenario:
i got 2 rosetta 800's. id like to add to the system a HEDD192. what do i do...???

Are you sure this is true? I can't hook up the HEDD 192 via AES digital and have 4 channels of D/A (a stereo pair from the HEDD, and another stereo pair through the rosetta 200) simultaneously?

Advanced routing

I feel that the Symphony structure is quite open and rock stable.

I have the 16ADX & 16DAX Symphony setup. With the advanced routing I can use other converters in addition to (simultaneously) with all of the Apogee converters. I just plug the other converters into the AES In or Out on the 16AD or 16DA. I haven't tried it with other digital cables but I presume it would work well.
