Thread Starter | Does ProTools need 2 Hard Drives not to get Error Codes? Does Pro tools absoultely need 2 seperate Hard drives to NOT get "increase Buffer size during playback" ? I have one Hard Drive with 89% free space. I'm not sure of the speed, being i'm at work, must be either 7400rpm or 10000rpm. I have the toolkit with about 40 tracks opened on a song. About 30 Audio Tracks and 10 Aux tracks with a whole bunch of Plug-ins. My CPU bar is about half way and at certain points at time during playback it stops gives me the error code of "increase Buffer size during playback" . Now I know By consolidating audio tracks & increasing the buffer during the play back did in fact help this situation BUT my question is by installing a 2nd Hard drive and placing only the audio on there , will that in fact help this situation even furthur where it will almost garuentee less error codes of "increase Buffer size during playback" . I dont want to go out and buy a second Internal Hard drive just for the same error codes to appear. Yes it prolly will have to be Internal because I dont have a firewire port to hook up an extrenal one, plus I dont need more error codes pertaining to firewire, thank you. So space is not the issue, 89% free, now would more RAM even do the trick of eliminating error codes such as "increase Buffer size during playback"? I know I am really pushing this computer and it holds up great I just want to my ProTools LE to run as smoothly as possible. |

which version of pt and what cs update do you have? Also you at 10.4.10? i get the increase hardware buffer everytime i try to hit play no matter how many tracks i have. i've got a 002 on its own fw buss. then an audio drive on another fw buss and another drive on an esata buss. this is really screwey and not sure how to fix it. |

Most people experience a lot better behavior from Pro Tools (and many other audio apps as well) with two or three hard drives, myself included.
