Naming Audio Files in Logic - Limited amount of characters

This has annoyed for a long, long time...does anyone know how to extend the character limit when naming audio files? Logic only allows for a certain number of characters which is often too short for what i need. Im digitizing my vinyl and often, the artist/song name are too many characters. as of now, i just rename them afterwards but i always imagined there might be a workaround. Also, is there a way to lose the digits that logic places at the end of the audio fle name (ie. songname#01.aif)? i would like to figure out how to lose the "#01".

well, do as most and pray for Logic 8 or so

This is just one of the many points where Logic was not updated - maybe because they did not need more than 31 characters (at least I think that is the number of allowed characters) to name apple loops :o

the #01 problem I did not run into yet. I get my bounces named as I type it in if there is not already a file named like that ....

best
