Ilok, can anyone answer this question?

Ok,

So I decided it was time to invest some money into a legal version of PT. So I did and I upgraded to 7.3. I bought a bunch of plug-ins that need an ilok for authorization. I run two PT rigs, one for tracking and mixing, and one that is mostly used for editting. I keep running into problems where i need to use the same plug-ins on both computers, I can't because I only have one Ilok. Is there any legal way around buying all the plug-ins again. I've been told you can't put a license on two iloks? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm new to all this ILok stuff.

You could just take your iLok with the authorizations and hook it on the other computer.

What I want is to have two Iloks with all my authorizations so I don't have to be constantly moving my ilok.

As far as I know, you can't do that.

No, you have one authorization, so you can only run software on one system as the license agreement states (can't speak for all agreements, but that's the general agreement). If you pay for another authorization you can run the stuff on the other rig at the same time. Or you can always have a 2nd ilok (or 3rd, 4th..) and keep individual auth for the software you frequently need to choose from. Then just plug in multiple iLoks onto one computer. If you want to select the plugins individually, you'll need a large USB hub for the computer but that's all good. I've gone with 6 iloks on a computer but I think the max is somewhere around 128 of them. I think this is the answer you were looking for.

There are illegal ways, but that's not something I'd use or divulge to people. If you discover the temp. workaround; it is illegal unless you have a legal unavailable auth.. You've inferred that you have recently worked with illegal software/authorizations, so you shouldn't be informed of the temporary work around method. I'm afraid you'd abuse it and 'steal' another authorization. But, you did say you were looking for a legal way, so I think my first explanation is your best method. Thumbs up for going legit. (if you weren't illegal before I guess I read into your post improperly)

Not to be rude, but I guess, I don't understand why this is such a big deal. I mean, you're only using one computer at a time, right? (I mean, you only have two hands). Is it that big of a deal to switch a USB dongle?

I see you're from Grand Rapids... I used to live out there.

IIRC, once the plugin is open in the session you can remove the iLok. Unless that's changed recently.
