g5 imac

right now im running ptle on a modest pc (p4 2.53, 1g ram) it a sweet water creation station. runs great, no crashes ever. however, id like to go over to logic and im not sure how long ill have to wait. however, i do have a g5 imac(last gen, i bought it the day before they released the intel ) (family comp) i can use this at any time and was wondering if i will take a big performance hit. thanx for any help.

I run Logic Pro on a 1 Ghz G4 Laptop and get by, till i can afford an intel mac.Your G5 Imac should hold you over for awhile, you can freeze to reduce cpu as well.If you plan on going crazy with lots of reverbs/soft synths it will be disappointing. For me i have no regrets, i got Logic at a killer price new, so i gave up on a new computer for now(i really wanted to learn Logic and really enjoy it now).As always YMMV

I also run PT LE and Live 6 too, regarding cpu use -Live is the worst, Digi in the middle and Logic gets the lowest cpu usage depending on configurations used.

Just upgrade your ram and you should be fine. I use a powermac g5 1.6 and I haven't run out of cpu when using Logic's VI's. Stuff like the exs24's instruments are so effecient I can run at least 40 of those.

The Intel core 2 duo is so much faster though!
