Solo guitar sounds horrid , the strum guitars sound decent so do the other instruments IMO

I've had gypsy/fab four for almost a week now I think.

Overall, not impressed. First off Gypsy, it's buggy as hell, the RTAS version is not available, and the VST wrapper does not work with it. I managed to get it to work on a PC with cubase, but it'll crash after the 4th or 5th instrument is loaded (testing patches I mean). I did a clean reinstall SIX times. I've tried a number of work arounds and nothing works. There was also missing sample layers on some of the guitar inst keys. I even had a friend of mine come and install it to see if it was user error, and he had same problem.

Also, for some reason instead of being called "gypsy.dll or gypsy.vst" the plug in is called PLAY.dll or PLAY.vst" which was confusing when I was trying to find it to figure out why cubase wasn't seeing it.....yeah another problem.

Having said all that, SOME of the sounds are good. I like alot of the fab four (all same problems as gypsy). Lots of cool drums and bass stuff, but the guitars are horrid.

For what my company paid for it though, I can't recommend it. 285-345 per instrument is way way too much for what you get.

My fab four will arrive today, got it mainly for the keyboards. Except for the strumming nylon the gypsy stuff sounds horrible. I cant believe the people on the EW forum have no ears, they are just in love with the EW stuff. I mean the trombone sounds like its from an old 5080. There are install issues and no RTAS support. Maybe they should have spent their time doing 1 or 2 great releases instead of so many mediocres.

The Violin sounds fairly good....but I know how these audio demos can be! I bought Motu Symphonic Instrument from the audio demos, and then I found out that the string patches basically only worked well if your compositions were just like the demo songs... ! Very dissapointing once I used the plug myself.

Any of you folks who've used it, how does that solo violin handle? Tell me more...

not surprised the guitars sound bad, they always do in sample libraries...

that violin might sound alright if every note wasn't panned differently...

Ther percussion, while not bad, is worse then expected

I haven't heard Fab Four yet...

I use EWQLSO Plat Pro and will be getting a free upgrade to the PLAY version once its released. Hopefully they'll have bugs worked out by then. The one good thing is that once PLAY is installed I'll be able to try full version demos of the other libraries.. I've learned the hard way not to just trust produced audio demos.

Wow. Look at this post on the East West Board regarding fab four. I am sure they will delete it soon.

I can't believe they don't have audio demos up for the rest of the new line yet....It seems kind of lazy to have the product actually AVAILABLE for purchase without audio demos....are people really buying these just out of thin air? I know demos don't always help either, but man, I ain't spending that kind of many without SOME representation of what it can do!
