| Gear addict | Audio Quantise + Digital Performer
i have been thinking about how i tidy up drum performances in my mixes usually i use manual edits.... But looking into the audio quantising side of things as im looking for a more clinical sound that normal at the mo 1) Is there a way of audio quantising in Digital Performer + how? 2) are there any audio quantising plug ins on the market to buy or avalible as free/shareware that let you quantise audio in real time using a insert much like Digital Performers MIDI quantise Plug In for MIDI tracks any ideas would be great thanks ow |

Hi, You need to make and edit group of the drum tracks and then make cuts before every hit. You can use beat detection to make DP find the transients automatically. Here's a nice tutorial/thread with magic dave from motu about beat detection. If you need to do this on just a stereo drum track I would suggest using BT's method and using time stretch after the transients. This is done manually that's why I would not suggest it for a group of tracks. I have no knowledge of any plug that can do this for you. Cheers

cool i'll check that tutorial out now cheers does anyone else use beat detect to tidy up thier drums? any tips or other ideas on audio quantise??? I would be awesome if i could discover a plug that will do it (in real time would be a big advantage too) So to use beat detect i will need to cut up each seperate drum hit? this is gonna take some time but I guess this could be speeded up considerably using strip silence in DP.. thanks ow |

Strip Silence. It's in the manual.
