Thread Starter | Protools HD Hardware Insert
I have an HD system, but as of now, I only have 1 UA 1176LN. So what I've been doing for tracks that I don't compress on the way in, is the following: Example: Insert 1176 on Recorded Track 1 Track Output Set to Bus 17 Track 1 fader at Unity Gain Track 2 input set to Bus 17 Track 2 Record Enabled Hit Record This of course is sending the compressed track to a new track to record. Got it, ok. Now latency is 93 samples on Track 1 with the 1176 Insert activated; ADC is on. After I record the Compressed Track 1 to new Track 2, do I need to nudge Track 2 at all or is Protools HD taking care of this? Now, I'd love to own 10 1176's, maybe later, but 1 will have to do for now. FWIW, I love UAD plugs, but there is no comparison from the Plug-in to the real 1176, to my ears at least. |

PT should take care of it with delay compensation. You can verify this by zooming in on the waveforms and making sure they match up. They'll be slightly different but it should still be easy to tell when you're very zoomed in. Another way to verify is simply to play the original with the compressed at the same time. If you hear comb filtering, they're not time aligned properly.

In the I/O setup page you have to check the box that compensates for I/O recording.

Is there a way in which I can listen to only the effected audio track and not the source material? I have the basic concept all applied and understood this is the last step.

If you want ADC to work as designed, you need to use hardware inserts - in other words, patch the 1176 in using I/O inserts in the same location in Pro Tools where you put plug-ins. Rail
