Pro Tools 003 lightpipe question

Hi guys,

Simple question, maybe a simple answer too. Does the 003 throughput lightpipe from the input to the output if its powered on but Pro Tools isn't booted up?

A friend has a Rosetta and 003 and wants to connect the two via lightpipe so he can power on the 003 and have the Rosetta's lightpipe go through the 003 to the desk (which only has one lightpipe input). I don't think it will, but wanted to check.

Thanks alot.

If it's like the 002, I think it does. The 002 can be used in standalone, and I'd think they give you toslink connectivity.

You'd have to open the Digi core audio manager and set the clock source.

Sorry if that's incorrect, but I think I recall that it does.

The 003 doesn't offer a standalone mode. It does however offer a new MIDI mode, allowing it to be used as a control surface for other applications. I'd make that trade any day.

I don't have enough lightpipe stuff to test the question but I somewhat doubt the lightpipe defaults to a bypass mode. It would be nice if it did. I do know that word clock comes out of the 003 via all formats even without Pro Tools running.
