Peeved with plugin bundles.

actually most software developers too. (don't get me started on the Adobe suite bundles and the windows vista version nightmares)

The bundle concept is getting ridiculous. Take mcdsp for example. First of all you can't buy native versions individually, just the $1400 bundle. I'm not saying that that isn't a good price, I just can't spend that much, nor do I want everything in that bundle. Now take wavearts and URS. You can buy individually, or the bundles or even customized sets of any set of plugins at a discount. Its just frustrating though that if you buy 1 or 2 plugins and want the rest of the bundle later on, your going to end up paying more than if you bought the bundle in the first place.

Every consumer is different, but all like to save money, and most like to not spend huge chunks. I wish that either companies would just offer indiviually priced plugins at good prices (ala massey) or even better, offer them at discounts depending on many you buy, but if you want to by more your not penalized.

For example, a bundle of 5 plugins say costs $500 or $150 each individually. Say I buy 1 plugin now for $150, then the next plug I buy is $125 the 3rd is 100, then 75 then 50 for a total of $500. Then I'm not penalized for not buying the whole bundle in the beginning. Its got for the customer cause they can buy at their own pace. Its good for the company cause it gears more people up to buy more plugins.

Like I said, every consumer is different, but all like to save money. I do, and I usually don't like to buy individual plugins cause i'm not saving money, but I can't afford to buy bundles, so I'm left with nothing, and the companies don't have my money.

Sorry for this rant, does anyone else see where I'm coming from though?

Yeah, I do. I tell people that my plugin prices ARE the bundle prices already. I have so many that the total is upwards of $1000 and I can't stand the idea of punishing guys who can only buy them in dribs and drabs, so I do an intentional no-bundle policy, always will- for exactly the reasons you mention

I hear ya... I think it's Ohm Force that has some sort of completing program for their bundles. Very nice indeed. I think Sonnox have discounts on the number of plug-ins you buy, no matter which, also a good idea. I like the idea of renting a plug-in and if you decide to buy it, then you can take away the rented € you've already payed.

I understand that plug-ins is a very small market, but I really think that plug-ins are way too expensive these days, bundles can help justifying a purchase because of the discount you usually get. I know where you're coming from, don't having the cash to shell out and not saving up, and yeah, it sucks... Plug-ins are too expensive period. The guys out there that make competitive plug-ins at a very low price, like Massey and (again) Ohm Force are life savers to some. Unfortunately, my guess is that these guys sometimes have a hard time making a living out of it.

even nicer with URS is their rent to buy scheme. the price you pay for renting a plug counts towards a discount off the eventual purchase price. there doesn't seem to be any time restriction here either. It'd be great to see others follow this method but I know not all companies operate a rental scheme.

I'm glad people agree.

really i just want this sort of pricing so I can buy plugins on a semi regular basis... you'd think the companies would encourage this.

it would be interesting to hear from those companies/developers that do post here on why they price things certain ways.
