M-Box XP Crash

Original M-Box. New computer. All appears compatible (memory, CPU, etc...) Fresh XP install. Nothing extraneous (that I'm aware of.) I *do* have a Delta 1010 in a PCI slot working just fine, but don't want to spend the $200+ on M-Powered since I already own an M-Box. Most of my tracking anymore is 2 channels, and some of it mobile, though it's nice to have the Delta around still.

I follow Digi's instructions on setup (as I did with my laptop for the M-Box, with no problems.) Disable hyperthreading, DMA enabled, no clear type fonts, etc... I install Pro-Tools (plugging in the M-Box at the appropriate time, waiting for XP to see it, ignoring it's install stuff and proceeding to the CD.) It does it's thing. Installs fine, as far as I can see. The USB light goes on for the MBox (looks like success.)

I restart windows...just to be nice and clean about it.

Desktop comes up, PT icon is there. I double click. *POOF*.

Windows restarts. POST. Welcome screen. Login. USB light comes back on. I wait an extra couple minutes...maybe something was unstable...not loaded fully yet. I wait. Grab a brew.

HD light definitely not active, so I double click the PT icon. *POOF*.

Windows restarts. POST. Welcome screen. Login.

I've tried disabling network devices, disconnecting the Delta, making sure no other USB devices are plugged in. M-Box runs fine on the laptop (checked in case something blew on the M-Box side of things.)

I am stumped. I went through the uninstall everything and reinstall from scratch process (including Quicktime.) I've done everything but reinstall Windows, but somehow I don't think Windows is the problem (XP SP2, btw.) Any suggestions/ideas etc...would be helpful. I really don't have the cash to shell out for M-Powered right now, and the fact that PT is the only app having difficulty on this machine makes me nervous about going that route anyway (what if M-Powered also dislikes the machine.)

Help! State the obvious in case I missed it. State the unobvious because I'm sure I missed it. Anything would be...well...helpful.

Thanks all. Slutz rule.

Oh...addendum. PT 6.7, P4 3.4GHz, 1GB RAM, running off a SATA drive with a PATA for storage (recording to firewire and USB externals.) DUC said throw away prefs, but there aren't any (I'm thinking they don't get created till that first execution of the software, which hasn't officially taken place yet for me since it keeps crashing windows.0
