Well, whenever I use it, I kinda like it gives weight to the audio. But after a while of listening, something begin to bug me and it is RennBas (or MaxxBass). Maybe something subtle could work at about 1-2% of cases (for me). That means, I forget this plug exists ;-).

It is like adding some rezonance ringing boom to the bottom, maybe you could notch it to get something undisturbing, but that seems contraproductive.

I once used 3 of them on 3 toms that were too thin, tuned them to match the size of each tom, worked very well as I remember well, may have to try it again.

Me too, especially listening to different speakers than the ones I set it up with.

There's other things that do similar things in more musical ways. It's basically a side chained low pass with a soft clip as far as I can tell. You can get harmonics on low frequencies with transformers when they are driven too and it will be quite a bit more musical albeit subtle sounding.

The only time I've ever used RenBass in a mix was to fatten up some horribly recorded electric guitars. On anything that's actually doing "bass" it just seems to create a cloud.
