Thread Starter | triggering an acustic drums but not the cymbals
How do you manage to maintain the full sound of cymbals when recording an acustic set without any bleeding or peaks by snare, bass, toms? Idea is to regulary record a regular drum set and replace it with some power samples, but leave that beaufull cymbal sound and stereo image. I use dynamic mics(akg401,sm58,d12) on the drum so later I can just use drumagog or KTdrumtrigger to replace real track with samples, but sound in the overheads(akg c1000s) is full of unwanted peak from the drum(besides the cymbals). I tried with massive dumpening of the drum-heads,but it's just not quite enough, and the snare (heavy dump) is the killer!Overheads picked him up almost as loud as the snare mic. the drummer,is way close than perfect,so i thought I can count on sample replacemant to fix the drumming, but the bleeding is to much of a problem. How do you solve this problem? It's kinda an emergancy,so help me fast.thanks-a-lot! |
