RME Fireface / Totalmix HELP!!! (software mixer disappeared!!!)

For some reason, my virtual mixer on Totalmix (the window with all the faders) has disappeared... Im on a Mac OSX, and have been using it stably for the last 2 months and all of a sudden last night, i can only open the Matrix window not the mixer window. I really need it to set different levels of ins and outs!

I have tried to reinstall. Is there a way to get rid of all the settings files etc?

You can do that with the matrix also...
But just hit "T" on your keyboard, and the mixer should reappear.

I had FF two years ago. I also experienced that problem. I think it has something to do with midi settings in Totalmix. Do you control faders and pans with midi controler?

nope. dont use midi for it at all

when i press T, nothing happens. its almost like the mixer section has crashed permanently and wont load up

is there a way of trashing ALL the settings files?

The Mixer Application is located in the Applications folder, have you tried opening it from there?

yes. i can open the matrix but not the mixer section...!

I've had this happen before.

it nearly killed me for a couple of hours until something struck me... I could see a 1 pixel line about 100 pixels high all the way to the bottom right side of the screen. I then realised I had used another monitor the day before that was much bigger than my laptop monitor ... so it had remembered the last position the mixer was in! crazy.. I was able to drag it back on the window centred.

If this is not the case for you.. it could be it is somewhere way off screen so just delete your preferences:

"your home"/ library / preferences / com.rme.FirefaceMixer.plist & com.rme.FirefaceSettings.plist

That didnt work... Ive tried deleting those two files and reinstalling the software but the settings in the matrix return. There must be another file that stores the settings i can delete???

when you toggle "T" can you see the tick next to "TotalMix" in the view menu appear/reappear? I'm wondering if it is stuck offscreen? Try changing your display prefs to a lower res and back again.
oh.. and as far as I know they are the ONLY to pref files associated to the Fireface

it cant be the only settings as my matrix settings are saved even when i delete those files...

these are the only two. your matrix setting are stored in the actual fireface itself. try changing them.. then going to your fireface setting app and press read (next to store on the bottom right) and see what happens. did you try my other suggestions?

Does anyone know if there are any known softwares that interfere with Totalmix?

delete everything. (find all extensions etc.)
reinstall. (always download installers and back them up)

no, but spotlight could give you a clue..
also there is these things . (I don't use them btw, never saw the need.)

I just had a similar experience. I'm on windows XP though.

After upgrading the driver for my FF800 and rebooting, the TotalMix and FF
setting would not appear. Only after a minute or two a security warning popped up whether Fireface and TotalMix should be started. And this after I tried to manually start the TotalMix exe from the system folder.

I don't know whether this applies to a mac but have you checked any security or firewall settings that might prevent TotalMix from loading.

Just an idea, hope it works out for you though.
