Processor speed question

Hi

I'm an acoustic musician and I'm going to be recording songs with under 8 tracks. I've seen a very nice laptop (Acer Aspire 9813) which has a Core 2 Duo 1.66 Ghz processor (and 1 Gig Ram).

My software is Samplitude Pro Version 9, which has a lot of sophisticated reverbs and compressors built in.

Will the 1.66 handle everything OK, or should I go for a laptop with a faster processor?

Also, I've been warned about possible incompatability of Acers with firewire soundcards. I'll be using a Focusrite Saffire. Has anyone experienced this sort of problem with Acer?

dcw.....
you can do a load of tracks .......on that laptop.
definitely way way more than 8.
and a boat load prolly if useing an external drive thats 7200 rpm with say 16mb cache.
i would find out the speed of the internal drive.
if its 5400...some folks get a seperate external drive.
but i would run tests.
thats the only way.

the only way to know if saffire works with it is to try it.
look in the devices section of the acer under ieee...
and it will tell you the firewire chipset.
then i would contact f'rite and ask if the saffire will work with the chipset
under devices on the acer lappy.
