Thread Starter | Hello everyone, I'm considering getting a protools LE system for my studio, which is cubase based. This is due to me getting more mixing jobs which are supplied to me as protools sessions. It is not always possible to inform the client that they should supply me with consolidated wav's, so I want to be able to open a protools session, consolidate the wav's myself and import them into cubase for mixing. I've done some reading and figured that the simplest & cheapest solution would be to get an MBox mini with protools LE. But is this system capable of importing protools-sessions recorded at samplerates higher than the MBox hardware limit of 48KHz? Will all the audio be converted? Will the session open at all? If not, then perhaps I'd be better off with protools M-powered and a M audio interface, since M audio sells hardware capable of high samplerates for a fraction of the price of an MBox pro. Any ideas / suggestions? best regards, Wessel spoor 14 studio |

| PT M-Powered + a Transit will work at up to 96k SR. Should run you about $325.

Thread Starter | Thanks for your help. I'll probably go the M-powered route, since OMF import isn't an issue. OMF's supplied by clients can be imported directly in Cubase, and I don't think I'll bother exporting OMF's from Protools and importing in Cubase. I'd rather do the final edits in the protools LE system and then consolidate all wav's for mixing. Also there's the maximum PTLE / M-powered track count, of which I don't know how it will function with OMF. That is, when importing a session that contains more tracks than the 32 / 48 track limit. Exporting tracks as consolidated wav's seems safer to me and can bypass the maximum track count, I think. regards, Wessel. |

| You can bypass the minimum count- it is 32 active voices (1 mono track= 1 voice, 1 stereo track=2 voices) or 48 with the $500 addon, but you can have any number of tracks. You can only hear 32 at a time though (any combination of mono and stereo that equals 32) When you consolidate, a very easy way to do it is to highlight everything starting from 0, then use the audiosuite gain plugin set to no gain. Then it will make new files all from zero and when you go to export to cubase, just highlight all of the files with gain in the name and you're good to go. I did this for someone not too long ago and it worked perfectly. |

| I have an mbox2 pro I use for this purpose. Handles 96K Hd sessions alright (without Hd specific plugs). If your a PC based guy don't bother with Usb based digi stuff. It's a crap shoot as to whether it will work or not. |
