projector screen

Ok, since I'm a computer geek I know this will work,
but i was wondering if anyone else had doen this.

Problem:

Screens screw up my stereo imaging and they block my
control room window.

Solution:

Vga projector with a film pulldown in front of window..

Any body know if this is something you could mix on
all day long looking at that screen or does it hurt your eyes?

anyone done it?

Concerns using a projector might be limited resolution & lumens/brightness unless you lay out some large $$$$$.

Well I borrowed one from work and it's working great,
it's even only a 800x600 one, but it has a 1024x768 emulation
mode, it looks like the resolution thing won't be TOO bad.

But something I never considered...

IT's NOISY AS FU#@%^.

That I might not be able to deal with and I doubt turning
the fan off in one of those with those bulbs is a good idea..

This one makes 34db at 1mb.
I saw one that did 29db, but see, it would have to be
somewhere fairly close to the sweet spot and it bothersome.
I don't know if I could get a quiter fan or something, but I think housing it like I do my computer would make it tooo hot.

The projectors for both business conference rooms and home theaters are way to noisey for my tastes.

The Home theater folks expect explosions and wild effects, and so anything under about 60dB is inaudible.

I tend to agree that suitable noise blockers will increase the heat, and the lamps in these things get way hot.

In serious corporate settings, they use rear projectors, so the noise is in another room. but most studios don't have the kinda space.

Even plasma screens have fans and too much noise.

How about a couple of 19" LCDs?
