Quietest FW drives/enclosures?

I'm wondering what external FW drives or enclosures you guys are using to keep things quiet. I've got a newish 120GB Western Digi drive that I'd like to just throw in an enclosure, but for some reason, I suspect empty FW enclosures won't be as quiet as all-in-one packages.

Any input would be great.

Thanks.

I've bought a no-name enclosure which has the option to put in a fan (about 1inch i'd say - but comes without), is made of aluminium and which is available in 3 versions (usb2.0, FW and both). I put in a Maxtor 120Gb (8Mb) and it makes almost no noise. Does 10Mb/sec on a PC.

Added crappy pic below.

edit: cost me €60

I use the OWC enclosures because they don't have a fan, so other than the drive itself, they're as quiet as it gets.

So these inclosures w/o fans are able to dissipate enough heat that you can safely run your drives without fear of meltdown? If heat won't be a problem, fanless enclosures sound like the way to go.

Thanks.

no. remember firwire devices can be chained together. and most external firewire devices have 2 ports. i use a presonus firestation which sits in between the ibook and the drive.

if you are going to get an ibook i'd suggest you upgrade the ram. mine only has 256 at the moment and it struggles sometimes. i'm going to double the ram soon.
