Tell me you're not going to use Garageband after hearing this

Look, this link is just a fan link for nobodys.

But after just hearing some of this stuff, there is no way that I'm not going to be using Garageband for throwing ideas down. Heck, some of the sounds will probably end up on the final thing.

I want to use garageband just for the sounds. You have been warned. Killer.

I've just ordered it with the jam pack (gives you loads more sounds)

I'm also very interested to see if I can use garageband to record on location with a laptop and some MOTU kit.

Will post review and all that later. Unless someone else already did that then stop me.

If Garageband, a lappy and a breakout box is all you need to record a bunch of stereo stuff........it's a no brainer. Wonder how easy it is to get stuff in and out of Logic....and everything else

I dunno. I'm more enthusiastic about Tracktion. Really a lovely interface for quickly doing the basics, and enough depth that tracks might even be finishable within it (planning to try doing my next project entirely within it, so I guess I'll see whether it can or can't quite soon).

cool! keep us posted about it. and now I'm going to look for it.

...later

...and now I'm going to play with it too

To be honest the thing that attracted me to garageband was the amount of ready to go samples and grooves

I'm atop an ocean of grooves and samples, I hope they have something unique.

I'm also on top of a mountain of grooves and samples

But I want a bigger mountain

Also I'm looking forward to a 'fun' environment to play in which doesn't require any thought. It might make me think in a different way, some new sounds could give new inspiration, ya know yadda yadda

Also I want something I can give to budding songwriters to whack together quick demos without having to have a degree which i can then put straight into logic

I just think it'll be fun. And for that price (and the fact I want the new iDVD) i couldn't see why not, so I ordered the extra sounds too.

Also want to play with the guitar amp thing.

Yeah, that's an aspect Tracktion won't provide.

But for working with one's own collection of softsynths, effects (at least the ones that have VST versions) and Rewire apps, it's got many good qualities (not that there aren't shortcomings). The efficiency of the drag-n-drop plug-in instantiation makes me weep every time I launch 'em in Logic.
