I'm a bit behind.. Is Logic still considered the best score editor/midi software package? How about Sonar? I didn't see any of their score features on their site. Saw, DP, etc? |

If it's just scoring you're after then I can highly recommend Sibelius. If you want an integrated solution then I would wait it out and see how Avid decides to integrate Sibelius into Pro Tools.

james... powertracks that i use has a slew of notation and midi features. but pc only. i dont know if it will fulfill every need, but mebe try the demo. very inexpensive (pgmusic.com for demo.). also has an event editor/piano roll , smpte sync.... heres some other of the myriad features. 1. after recording a midi trak u can create an audio trak automatically. 2. high ppqn support. 3. fretboard n piano displays. fretboard displays are usefull for bass n guitar traks. theres also a midi guitar clean up dialog. 4. a drum grid editor....for creating drum midi traks. 5. midi channel filtering n rechanneling. 6. identifying chords from imported midi files. n ive just scratched the surface frankly of its capabilities. if i remember it will also do lead sheets and even print blank staff paper. just a ton of stuff...so i suggest u chek it out a little. i dont have time to go into every feature. oh tempo mapping also.

i use Mac so looks like either Logic or PT/Sibelius. I'm waiting on Logic 8 to see how that will go. Even in Logic Express, i like the integration. I don't do overly complex scores. I may not not upgrade to 003 either so that is my situation. thanks. |

Manning1, do you work for powertracks? You push it like a salesman in so many posts.
