Sampler - Question

Morning!

A question for you'all.

Right I was thinking i dont the funds to afford something like AKAI MPC2000 sampler, So it got me thinking with the samplers like the one mentioned above. When you sample you can alter the ptich so you can spread the sounds out over the drum pads. Is there a way of doing this i.e. Using some sort of sampler software and a drum pad for example (korg.com) - Thats the one i have been looking at.

Is it possible, And will it sound the same?
Or maybe combining it with like a 80's sampler into the computer and on to the drum pad.

yes, software samplers do that. will it sound the same? should sound close enough, and be heck of a lot more convenient. some have many more options than the MPC, and there's no need to save it on a zip disk or scsi drive.
