Digi002 as external D/A converters with HD?

Has anybody tried this? I have a mix session here tomorrow which I just learned was done on Digi002 at 96k. I have HD with 24 channels of Apogee D/A but 8 of them wont do 96k. SO, I'm wondering if I can use their 002 hardware box as the extra 8 D/A converters? Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you might need to have another computer set up with pro tools running and the 002 connected in order to use the D/A convertion, but I'm not sure. Is it a 002 or a 002R, because I seem to remember the 002 being able to act as a stand alone mixer...

It's the 002 rack version that they have. Thanks for that thought. I'll look into it. Any other tips are much appreciated.
