Retrieving after a crash?

Tonight our production and recording computer crashed and we weren't able to turn it back on. I'm not hands on with our prod & rec so all I really know at the moment is what I've just mentioned.

The worst thing is that we've got 6 months worth of beats and songs on there, not backed up other than some music cds . Silly I know, and this scare has taught us to start backing up on a regular basis, but I'm just wondering what the possible causes and solutions for this are? We really need to recover the audio we had on there, at the least.

Any help whatsoever is very much appreciated!!!

What is the system your using, OS, computer type etc etc?

What happens when you try and turn it on? Is it totally dead or do the fans turn on, drive spin up etc

Could be one of a load of things, give us a little more info and someone might be able to help you.

Good luck.

Aside from the project on which you were working, your data's likely fine.

As Will said, the cause of death could be a number of things. In addition to any observations on its current condition, a description of the crash would be very useful, if you can provide it.

I was successful in getting my system restored by: removing the drive (it was my boot drive) and connecting it to my other computer. The computer then automatically did a checkdisk function on it. Not sure if this was all it needed because I then used Acronis Migrate program to clone the disk to another. This disk then worked in the original computer like nothing wrong ever happened. Also, Getdataback program seems to be a good one to recover data. Good luck!

Pretty vague description. No power at all, or it won't boot up? If it's a mac, you probably didn't lose anything thanks to file journaling.
