I genuinly don't understand the hate some show in this thread. I mean, how long has REAPER existed? Not very long at all. And it started out with some high-end features that many other long-established DAW's don't have. Yet people are calling it a POS because it didn't spring into life as a fully-formed duplicate of Nuendo/Cubase/Logic/SAW/ProTools? Um, okay guys.

Fact is: REAPER will do damn near anything you need to do with a normal multitrack audio workstation. So it doesn't do surround so well; neither did most other DAWS for years of their existance. So it doesn't do MIDI so well; it began as a purely audio app and MIDI was added later, hardly surprising is it. How long before Cubase got audio to work as well as it does in REAPER right now?

REAPER gets better and better with every passing month yet all the critisism seems to be that it's all just not good ENOUGH fast ENOUGH.

Reaper is SO bad, it HAS to be a cash-grab. Seriously.
And seriously, you sound like a massive idiot. REAPER isn't raping your wife and whoring your kids just by existing. Why the hell are you so dead-set against it?

it is confusing isn't it. the hate generated by something as silly as a software program. strange times.

Serious, what do you expect the crisitism to be on other than the software that is avaliable to us? vapourware that may exist in 12months? or maybe never? The only fact is, if you like reaper the way it is then you aren't going to understand any criticism being made about it. Reaper doesn't do "damn near anything I need to do with a normal multitrack audio workstation", but of course, I'm just a "hater" because I have critisism for the software.

Sure, reaper has only been around for about 18months... your examples of "how long's" aren't very valid though because some of those manufacturers actually invented the concept of a daw.

It doesn't do everything I want it to either. Which is why I don't use it for anything other than messing around at home. But thats better than whining about something not being ready NOW NOW NOW. Anyone would think you were being forced into using it when you're simply not.

All you had to say was "It's not ready enough for me to consider it a serious contender yet in my opinion". Book closed. Why all the goddamn bitching?

Holy sh!t; who has time to read these longwinded, far fetched discourses on morality!? Bottom line: $40, 2.2Mb for an audio app of this caliber is REMARKABLE!! I'm downloading right now!!!! M.

PhilR ...
once years ago mate i was a notts county supporter...lol.
nice to hear from nottingham.
i had some fun times there.

the program suits me to a tee , but mebe not others.
but why the animosity i dont know phil.
unless there are other reasons for it.
give my fond regards to nottingham.

i dont know if this is true, but some wealthy people just enjoy what they do best.
in justins case, maybe for all we know he set up a little studio to do his songs,
tried some audio software, and reckoned he could do a nice product.
he obviously is very skilled in software engineering.

i knew a guy once in hi tech.....became wealthy thru inheritance,
bought all the toys , n got fed up with em n decided to stick with his skill.
and carried on working much to everyones amazement.
mebe the motivation is much purer than some people are assuming.
mebe the reaper devs just enjoy what they are doing.

I'm not actually a Nottingham native manning1, I moved here from up north a few years back. I'll take your comment as it was intended though.

I wasn't online for a couple of days and what do I find, a thread filled with politics...

While I think politics can be an interesting point of discussion it has no place in this forum or in this thread.

I am a little tired of deleting all these comments and why does everybody feel the need to reply? Sent me a PM and I will remove any politic crap!!!

I already put out a warning that I would close this thread if people would continue to post comments without good arguments. I personally don't really like closing threads, and I like to keep info organized, but it seems everything has been said to this point as I have read no more arguments that added anything. So let's keep this as a warning, no closing yet, but... be warned!!!

Also since Reaper can be freely downloaded, just try it, you ain't got nothing to loose and then decide for yourself, don't decide solely based on arguments you find in an internet forum!
