can you have pro tools hd and le on the same machine

No you cannot. As soon as any partition starts looking for a PT interface it will find the PCI card first regardless of whether you have HD or LE software.

You can only have one core Digidesign device (Accel card, 001 card, MBox, 002) hooked up -- you can however run M-Audio's Pro Tools and HD on the same system.

Thats not true. I can switch betwen my 001 or MBox under PT 6.4 in 10.3.8 from the Playback Engine menu.
