| Pro Tools HD Cards Hot? I have a Digidesign expansion chassis that I haven't been using due to its high noise level, but I find myself in greater need of more slots lately. I'm wondering if I can safely defeat its noisy chassis fans if all that'll be in there are an HD core card, 2 process cards, and a firewire card. Do these Digi cards run hot? They survived a year in my hellishly-hot dual G4 1.42, so they must be pretty tough! I'm also considering replacing the noisy chassis power supply with a PicoPSU, a fanless 120w supply with an external "brick" to keep heat down. Anyone have thoughts on the heat or power issues involved in this endeavor? TIA, Andre |

Do this at your own peril... Assuming you are working in a house/flat, not a studio with a machine room here. Strongly suggest building/buying an iso box or drilling a couple of holes in the wall and putting it in an adjacent room- it is the easiest/safest solution and can be covered up with a bit of filler/putty and some paint.
