For awhile I thought I found the ultimate units Noren AcoustiLock, lots of users reported excellent results with their older units http://www.norenproducts.com/Acoustilock/index.html but they have ditched the heatpipes and now all there cases use fans instead. It seems like a heat issue! anyone try some of their latest units without the heatpipes? I'm interested in the G-cab to put a new MacPro into

My wardrobe is doing a fine job of keeping my 'puta quiet. Didn't cost a penny either. Can even double as a wardrobe for clients jackets.

acoustilock is the best. Just bought a Cab 6? 6 space rack - beware - it's huge - but it works better than any other period. It is the quietest safest machine room for your gear. You will need SPACE and proper VENTING but if you have those - this is a great purchase.

seems like fans to me - you need to plug the actual unit in. But it is dead quiet and works great. If you are in NYC you are invited to come by and check it out.

of course this is just a shameless plug for our stuff but you might want to check out the AudioLot CRC (it's in the products section, just click on audiolot records under manufacturers). Yeah, it's a bit pricey but there's nothing out there that compares (plus it's hand built and has 2 ISO boxes).

| Lives for gear | I don't have a "spec sheet" per say, but I can tell you that when we did the initial tests during the development phase a few years ago, we doubled the best sound reduction that was available. We were in the neighborhood of a -45db decrease per ISO box. Watch the movie on our website and you'll see it in action with a mic right in the room (no noise reduction was performed on the audio in the video). Silent and beautiful.

curious as to how quiet, quiet is. can you record acoustic guitar 3 feet away from a box like these? i am spending a fortune in extension cables and active repeaters for my remote computer room.

how about an ikea-hack to make something similar/? i have an ikea cabinet which could be an iso booth for the computer. i didnt see it in the ikea site but i bought a while back. the only issue would be the heat. the cabinet has a small hole in the back for cables. dont know how to make a ventilation system to make it wortk :( it wouldnt be 99% quiet but when i put my computer in there it was very quiet compared to having it under the desk. but for studio maybe with some extra work. well, just chiming in on cost friendly alternatives for this sort of stuff. pd: lemme know how to do a ventilation for something liek this if u know |
