Which Way? "Custom-shop" Intel Mac Mini->002->external FW HD?

Hello...

I've scaled back a lot since we lost our studio space. Nonetheless I'm happily recording at home, and have a basement with a ton of ReadyTraps, non-parallel walls and the sound is great...

Since I haven't arranged this yet, my question is how do I correctly configure the Mac Mini, my 002 (Black Lion mod), & external FW drive for the audio/data? I know I can daisy-chain with firewire, but what's the proper order, or shall I say what does Digidesign support (I've searched...nothing, but Digi does list the mini as supported)?

I heard, and can anyone verify:

Mini->FW external HD (out of the Mini's one FW port) -> 002...Is that correct?

Additional info; I'm running a "hot-rodded" Mac Mini; I swapped out the Intel CPU from 1.5ghz Core Solo to a 1.83ghz Core 2 Duo, maxed the RAM out to 2GB, and swapped out the internal HD for an 80GB 7200rpm...it flies! It runs circles around my 1.6ghz G5 tower (1.5GB RAM, 2 internal HDs). I did a lot of work on the G5 w/o really any problems. I plan to sell the G5 and use the Mini exclusively.

My external is a LaCie Extreme 160GB...I was booting the Mini off of that for a speed bump before I got the 7200rpm internal...can I still use that as system drive, and use the internal HD for audio, and connect the 002 to the LaCie still (if that's the correct order).

Also, I don't mix at all, (for now) only track, so that may be helpful info, meaning I don't need a ton of resources, if any plugs...

I now only record my own band's material (though we go elsewhere for drums) but I still intend on doing some pretty heavy tracking, and running sessions with pretty heavy track count@ 24/44.1. I know full well the "custom shop" Mac Mini is more than adequate...just how to set it up by Digidesign's specifications to run smooth?

Pre-thanks, and sorry for the long winded-ness...

Found it...

Thanks, but I ended up digging this up in the 002 user's manual:

– or –
If your computer has only one FireWire port,
connect the FireWire hard drive directly to your
computer and then connect Digi 002 Rack to an
available FireWire port on the drive.

While it is possible to connect a FireWire
hard drive to an available port on Digi 002
Rack, if the Digi 002 Rack unit is powered
off, any mounted FireWire drives will lose
their data connection with the computer,
which may result in hard drive errors or
data loss.
