how much juice for 96k sampling?

realistically, how loaded would your computer have to be to sample at 96k in PTLE? right now i'm using a G4 power book w/ 1.5 ghz processor (1) and only 512 RAM (which i will be upgrading to 1 gig very soon), and an external lacey drive for storage (250 gig w/ around 190 of free space left on it).

i'm talking about recording singer-songwriter type stuff, with not too many tracks. nothing like a full rock n' roll or pop mix.

obviously i'm not looking for an exact answer, just a rough idear of what to look out for, or possible upgrades, etc.

thanks.....

If you're not recording more than two tracks or so at a time (you could only do two tracks at a time at 96k via SPDIF,) and your sessions aren't that large, you can get away with pretty much anything decent these days. Doesn't have to be spectacular. Why not give it a try with what you have?
