Ideal MP3 Size for MYSPACE CONVERSION?

Does anyone know if there is an ideal mp3 size for myspace conversion? It just hacked the shit out of a 256kps mp3 that sounded pretty darn nice. I wonder if it imparts LESS artifacts on say, a 192 or even 128kps mp3 because it doesn't have to shrink the file as much?

This is a more important issue then people think. These days, our recordings are more likely to be heard on Myspace then anywhere else.

It's my understanding that no matter what you upload to Myspace it will be converted to 96kbs.

I've found that it's best to convert your 16/44 .wav file to a 96kbs MP3 then upload it. I've tried all the bit rates and found that 96kbs sounds the best.

I even advise my client of this. I give them a data CD containing 96kbs MP3's of their songs specifically for this purpose.

Since your file is already an mp3, I would convert it to 96kbs while keeping the original file, then upload both of them and see which one sounds better.
