Easy Mixing Question

Hi-

What is the common way most people apply reverb. Is it best to have a reverb unit on a buss (i use Altiverb) and then assing the output to that buss OR, is it better to keep the output to the mains and then send some of the signal to that buss?

I've watched MILAR and done lots of other research but I wonder what most of you all do.

Thanks very much!

hei man,

I was always confused with the masterbus stuff.

I know, some masteringguys are using a masterverb on too dry records.

the whole "mix into a masterverb" never worked for me, and some mixers told me (some guys who actually sell a lot of CDs) it's just like an FX and they do it if it fits into the song/feel.

cheers

I presume you do not mean adding reverb to your overall mix by putting it in the master 2 buss.

I would normally put a reverb on a bus and just send to it from the track, while maintaining the track outputs to my main outs.

If I want to use compression and reverb on a bunch of tracks (eg backing vox), then I will assign the outputs of their respective tracks to that bus.

It all depends on what is neccessary or economic......
