Anyone try the new Vintage Warmer 2 yet?

Looks like a $49 upgrade, or free if you bought the original after March, 2006. There's a demo I'll check out when I get time. From the PSP site:

The new PSP VintageWarmer2 adds the following exciting features:

#FAT (Frequency Authentication Technique) - PSP's quality double-sampled processing,
# Disengageable brick-wall limiting,
# Two Release Multiplier ranges for fast or relaxed processing,
# Semi-automated release mode,
# Extended band saturation levels and band release multipliers for MultiBand mode,
# 64-bit host<>plug-in audio streaming support in VST version,
# Platform-independent preset management system.

Just tried the demo. Sounds awesome. Its going to be my new go-to for spicying up demo stuff, and satisfying those "make it louder" types. Worth the 150 bucks, by all means.

I bought the first version for my laptop (Powerbook) and then bought an Intel Mac tower a few months later. I've been waiting for this plug to be Intel compatible for a while.......Now that its out and I have it I can say, it sounds great !!!

I'm not sure which version I have, but I have reallized the power of this plug in. If you're one like me and you don't like having to do a ton of plug in processing, this thing is awesome. I use it mostly for parallel compression on tracks and the 2 buss. The mix knob (lower right corner of GUI) is your friend for parallel compression. Also the band eq adjustments are very helpful. If you haven't tried parallel compression yet, you gotta give it a try. It's subtle at first, but after a while you'll reallize the power!

If I recall correctly, they work well when you start messing with the ceiling knob. They do exactly what you think (increase saturation in the frequency ranges set by the bass/treble knobs.
Check out the PSP forum in the VW section. There are some good early posts where the makers of PSP clarify some of the oddities of this plug-ins (speed, release ratio, saturation).
I'd still like them to address this in more detail in the manual.

So now you can disengage the limiter and just use it as "warmer"???

That would be awesome!!

Anyone compare VW 1 and VW 2 yet, sound wise?

I'm trying to compare the two but there seems to be some weird differences in volume, plus i get clipping when the brickwall limiter is ON??

And how about CPU usage?

I've been doing some messing around with VW 1 and the demo for VW 2 on my old powerbook g4... can't decide yet.

VW 2 uses around double the cpu power though, and that's with FAT mode OFF. Turn it on and it goes up high.

I'd like to hear from dual G5 owners on the cpu performance...
