Thread Starter | DRUM LOOPS ? Where do I begin ?
Hi all, I currently have a YAMAHA 4416 daw + a notebook PC with a burner. I do NOT have any PC audio editors/sequencer type s/w (as yet)... How would I begin to add drum loops to my 4416 setup ? Any tips on what s/w I need to get started? I just noticed some package called "drums on demand" that looked nice ... but I am not sure how this s/w would fit with my 4416 box. NOTE: The 4416 can import WAV files ... but I have no experience using samples,PC editors and the like ... Thanks a ton in advance, John. |

i used to have an AW4416, and while it is a fantastic tool, looping and audio editing are definitely not two things that should be undertaken by the squeemish on it. i'm not trying to discourage you from doing the work, but from experience, the task of nudging those little "tracks" (also known in other parts of the world as "very small little lines on a small two color screen") is less than fun. sorry to be so blah about the task, but i'd recommed (as the cheapest/most bang-for-the-buck option) getting a copy of reason, doing your drum loops there, and pull those into the AW4416 as waves. - copal |

--- snip --- Synthesizers, samplers, drum machine, ReCycle-based loop player, mixer, effects, pattern sequencer and more. As many of each as your computer can handle. Reason is an infinitely expandable music workstation on a CD-ROM, complete with its own realtime sequencer. --- snip --- it's a rather impressive piece of software if you've never used it or anything like it. as far as "cheap" goes, the 2.5 release of reason is on sweetwater for ~$350 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ReasonSoft/ but i'm sure you could get a discount on that at your local guitarcenter or other distributor. - copal | |
