| If you have a physical HD failure, there's a great company with international support and in some cases they can recover your data online. London, United Kingdom Kroll Ontrack Limited The Pavilions 1 Weston Rd Kiln Ln Epsom Surrey KT17 1JG United Kingdom Phone: +44 (0)1372 741 999 Website: Data Recovery Website: Electronic Discovery Website Ontrack Data Recovery - United Kingdom If it's just a fragged Mac HD, buy Data Rescue II, load it onto another drive and you'll be able to grab all your critical data onto a sparse disc. Works like a charm!!!!!

Thread Starter | Thanks everyone, Im not sure if its mechanical or not... The drive is a Lacie... and i won't be buying one of those ever again!!! The drive was on the desktop and when i double clicked on it i got the "spinning pizza wheel" ... Then the drive vanished!!! I then tried it on my powerbook... and nothing... then on my g4 tower and nothing.. i wasn't too concered at first as i thought it might be an Intel to g4 thing.... Anyway Disk Utilty can see it and says that smart is unverified... DW can see it but can't repair.... and now i'm just scared of trashing it even further!!! |

| DW didn't do squat for me either, so on a good friend's advice I tried Data Rescue II and was able to grab all my critical data off the fragged HD. I think DR's site lets you use their demo, but I'm not sure how that goes. You will need to run it from another working drive. It's well worth the purchase price. http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue_info.php Best of Luck! |
