Thread Starter | The meaning of Pad the Mic
Hi, I've been lurking for months and reading my eyeballs out. On a few posts I've seen people mention they "pad" their mic before going to their preamp in order to push the pre for color. I've not checked that link, but i think it could refer to a gain pad. Reduction in gain by, iirc, 20dBs. |

yes. Pad = attenuator, and that is the Shure. fer sure!

It should be noted that some mics have a built in attenuation pad (typically in the form of a 2 or more position switch).
