Studio Desk (for home studio)

I'm looking for opinions on home studio desks. I've got quite a bit of room and I would like to house my full-size keyboard, my 2 LCDs (20 inch), keyboard, mouse, mixer, receiver, and two rack-mountable pods (bass and guitar). Also, I want enough clear desk room that I can put paper work on the desk when I'm doing real-world stuff.
I found this website:
http://www.mrack.com.au/
which looked pretty cool, except that its in Australia and I'm in the US so I imagine it would suck getting it here. Help!

maybe you can try to build one for yourself...i made my studio desk in the summer..it just take me 1 day to put everything together..(wood , parts)..it is better to create that by yourself...you can put anything you want in anywhere..
i put my keyboard, monitor , rack , and i have extra space for working my paper work...

also...way cheaper....

good luck

Yeah, those are kinda ridiculous. Looks like you just piled a bunch of junk in a corner. I built mine also. Pretty easy. Get an idea of what you want and give it a shot.

I did tons of research on workstation desks...looked at Argosy, Omnirax, etc. I liked the Mrack desk the best, but they've been sold out for months.

Then I stumbled on a one man shop in Miami who builds affordable custom
workstations/consoles.

My custom desk should be ready in a few weeks and he is great to work with. I must have asked 500 questions, sent 50 emails and had 7 or 8 phone conversations...

www.styleandfunction.net

He's building me a totally cusom desk with a huge sliding desktop for keyboard/mouse, fixed
side brackets for 88 key controller, 4 rack spaces, and everything is height and depth adjustable.

Price considerably less than Omnirax, etc.

Best,
Charles

I dunno I find their stuff functional, and adjustable to boot. I'm gonna place an order once their website is back online, it's been hacked from an email to them

Their website is down right now, hacked apparently, but it should be up again soon.

Mine is nothing fancy but it works fine. Took about 2 hours to build.

I built two racks and covered the top with 1/4" mdf. Also built those speaker stands for about $10/pr.

When I first built it I had a shelf for my monitor but I thought it was too high (see 2nd pic).

Have a carpenter custom build it. I had this done last winter by a guy who'd never built anything like it. Fantastic for $1200. 7 feet long, comes apart in four pieces for mobility, rock solid. Studio Desk (for home studio)-imageuploadedbygearslutz1316656520.737392.jpg

Try Raxxess. I put a Raxcess "Big Apple" setup in my room at one point... nice desk with shelf and 2 racks with desk tops that fit together to make a producers desk. If you build your own, remember that real studio furniture is heavy to stop it from vibrating. Brace often. Cheap screw it together home furniture is often thin and prone to resonance. If you do buy something like that, look it over well before you buy.

For home studio desks that are professional quality and built to fit in your studio (as many are just too big) check out our new desks at SongCraft Station. You can match these desks to your home decor and order any size monitor stands you want. They cost the same as the other pro audio companies charge and they were designed specifically for HOME studios. You won't get a huge mixing board on them, but for many applications they are the perfect fit.
