Thread Starter | iTunes Japan sales...
I thought I'd mention this since I got some more payments from Tunecore and mentioned this to someone a week ago. Easily a third of my sales from iTunes are from Japan for a film/doc soundtrack. Funnily enough the film was about a race in Europe and I seem to get more sales from iTunes Japan than iTunes Europe and UK put together. I wonder if Japan is a good market to promote to? Anyone else noticed a similar suprising amount of sales in Japan? Or am I just big in Japan? |

Japan is an odd market. Time was American and British Metal/Rock & Pop were easy staples, but that changed in the mid-90s when the Japanese labels started making knock-offs of English Language Hits by bands singing in Japanese. The good news is, if you connect in Japan they are somewhat obsessive. It used to be pretty easy to get a licensing deal there if you had traction, and then get them to bring you there for promotion. These days the cost of a promo trip is probably equal to, or greater than an advance you'd get. So I've always looked at Japan as a paid vacation. If something is connecting, it's a ton of fun to go to Tokyo with a sense of purpose and they treat you really well. Good luck and have fun!

Hi, Amber. Would you mind share your song? The link perhaps, your Youtube video? |
