| Gear Head | BMI/Royalties--Do producers register songs separately?
So I'm completely new to this stuff, tried searching around on here and elsewhere on the net but am still confused: I've produced the beats for several songs on a local artists album. I am registered with BMI but have yet to register any works with them. The artist is currently in the process of registering all the album works with BMI, and asked me for my BMI info so they could put me down for my fair share of the royalties. Now, what I'm not sure about is if I should ALSO be registering the songs separately with BMI, or if the artist simply puts me down when THEY register. I feel like its a simple answer, but any info/experience would be great. Thank you! |
