| The author may be a songwriter, but she's really only looking at the issue from the perspective of a musician. She doesn't really have the background to see the bill from the point of view of either law or technology. Hmm. By my count, that's one out of three. Not too impartial, to be honest. Not quite good enough an article, but nice try. Okay, okay, snark aside, it is an interesting thought experiment (though it has to be said that the culture industries do not produce all of society's culture). Let's just none of us be too hasty in judging words solely on the basis of who it is that wrote them. Whether the author is one-third or two-thirds qualified, let's just be sure to judge the actual content of their writing, and not just their personal character. |

But the last few days alone demonstrates that musicians have barely been heard in this debate. The internet is one of the most powerful communication tools in all our modern lives, and it's the internet engineers, and internet businesses that have drowned out the voice of creative people of late. It's a breath of fresh air to hear the thoughts of an actual musician for a change. | |

| Wouldn't miss it. The last few rounds of music I've obtained have been directly from hobbiest web sites; there's some good stuff out there. But then I've never been much of a mainstream/industry music consumer to begin with... |

Thread Starter | It would be interesting to see. But lets be clear - no professional films, no professional tv, no professional music software or music. I'm not buying mainstream music either, but as far as I can tell all the artists I regularly buy from are full time. |
