Angry Saw the billboard awards last night

How tacky! Everything was just horrible and I only stomached it to watch out of curiosity.

Bad hosts, bad language and immature jokes in bad taste. People who can't sing. Awards acceptances with nothing but ghetto slang.

What happened to the days of Dick Clark and TALENT?

Not ONE performer (not even the american idol kid) was able to
sing on key through their entire performance. NOT ONE!

Well MAYBE with the exception of Shania, but she was either lip-synced or the auto tune was so strong you could hear it in her voice. I'm not familiar enough with the track to figure out which it was.

Can't ANYONE in pop sing anymore?

When I grew up the billboard awards was a LOT classier! ALL the acts were FLAWLESS! What happened?

Forget piracy, THIS is why the industry is in the shitter.

Here's the other thing that deserves a second rant: Evanesence(Spelling?)

This is the 4th or 5th time I've seen her sing and she's horrible.

What I don't understand is how they got that nasty vibrato out of her voice on the album. I know that infinite takes, auto tune et al can cure a lot of the other problems. However the vibrato stumps me. Her new band can't sing either.

Last night was just kind of a wake up call to the sorry state the music industry, and possibly even our society is in!

Anyone else have a recent experience like this or agree?

I had a power surge that fried my TV.
best thing that happened to me in months....
about the state of music and things, well...
it's the age of mediocrity, get used to it or do something about it.

but we are listening to the music we deserve, everyone saw the powers that be killing music and did absolutely nothing to stop it...

not eveything is though, it always get darkest before dawn...

but everytime I think "ok that's it, this is as bad as it will ever get, everything will improve from here" a new cd comes out, that stretches the frontiers of mediocrity even further, HA !

I saw just the Evanescence performance... after hearing the tune a number of times on the radio, I wondered if she could really pull it off live at all...

I was slightly impressed that they did actually...

Did you all see Pink at the AMA's? She sang her new tune "Trouble" with just an acoustic guitar player. Now that girl CAN sing. Refreshing in this day and age of lip syncing (how is that OK again?) and auto tuned vox. She really belted it out - gave me goosebumps. I thought Evanessence was pretty good too.

The rest - shite.

No offense intended - but reading Rolling Stone and watching those awards shows is pretty much guaranteed to piss you off.

Why not quit doing it?

You'll catch enough pop culture in the rest of your life to know what's going on trend wise without subjecting yourself to that crap.

I'd have to say I consider you very easily goosebumped! Acceptable, passable, OK, pretty good, not horrible, eh- better than the others... would be my take on it.

Well, music is subjective, isn't it? I read the same thing from other people on other forums as well. people were surprised she had pipes like that.

But hey - to each his own.

I thought live music was supposed to be a different experience than studio unless you're Frank Sinatra.

As an aside, I find the Dick Clark nostalgia thing interesting as his show was almost 100 percent lip sync.

Andre's side of the new Outkast album is frighteningly good. Eclectic as all hell -- like the best Prince album you've ever heard. Restored my faith in the industry in one listen!

I like Coldplay too ... today's music is not all complete shit. It's dwindling like crazy, though....

One side note, and I did not see the Billboard awards, I have heard live tapes of the Evanessence chick, and she can most definately pull it off live. great singer. I am not so hot on the band all the time, but she can sing.
