5.40 am .... yes ... AM .... been tracking vocals at the studio last night .... went great .... stopped round 11 pm ... went for a drink in this italian tavern close to the studio ....

decided to drink an espresso

.... now I can't sleep sleep .... pissed

tut NO MORE ITALIAN ESPRESSO just before bedtime .... evileye evileye it should be forbidden to even sell that stuff after 9 pm piss

thats why its called italian yell
only they can drink it without getting affected by the " cant sleep " syndrom . if the syndrom is still on today , find yourself a doctor ...

If you're even in Miami, try some CUBAN Coffee -- order the "colada", drink a few shots...

... the shit's like CRACK. You'll be gritting your teeth (and grinning ear-2-ear) all day and night.

Strong espresso with TONS of sugar added to the brewing cup as it's bring brewed. The hot espresso falling on the sugar makes it kinda carmel-ish. Yummy. And dangerous.

Just did a week long session in Napoli (That's Naples to everyone else!), 5 cups of expresso a day. Jitters are just wearing off!

Trivia Fact:-

Windows programmers traditionally drink Jolt Cola, Mac programmers drink Mountain Dew. WYSIWYP* fits in with their view of the world!

I never got hooked on espresso - I'm a simple coffee drinker. I have cut back to around 5 or 6 pots a day. But I will second the motion for Cuban coffee (and, of course, Cuban food!).

Illy = yummmm. My favorite here is Peet's Coffee. Get a pound of French roast for my stove top esspresso machine (a present from the parents of an ex from Poland), one pot in the morning and I am feeling no pain.

Chris,
you should try getting the espresso with "correzione" at that time.
That means putting a tad of your favorite 'alcool' in it.
Cognac, sambuca..i usually go with Bacardi...
That does not kill all the caffeine but helps somehow to
smoothen up its effect. i'm italian and i could drink
espresso and sleep as a baby anyway..but in the
evening and after dinner i really like the " corretto".
In Tuscany we use the small glass cup and you
pour the rhum or whatever first and then you do the
espresso on it so it comes very hot and well blended.
Another technique is to use the vapor pipe of the espresso
machine, the same you use to cream the milk for cappuccino,
and give a few shots. Must be really hot and blended...just
the smells is a trip..if you use Bacardi a small twist of lemon
is quite a great add.

Hey dynamo!

I had several summers in Tuscany, near a small hilltown called Cortona. My Granny who had eyes bigger than her bank account, was chums with the local Count (Count Passerini) who let her rent a cottage cheaply. We would occasionally go to his 'palazzo' for lunch. (he had a pretty MUCH younger English wife who was always off riding horses... ahem... jodhpurs! er...yes!) He was very elegant but basically bored & idol rich.. 1974 aged 14 and playing the new 'Pong" video game with a 60 year old Italian count in his palace, kind of blew my mind! I mean he was VERY bored! Germain Greer was also someone that would drop by and hang out... Then a monk would visit us for dinner and eat all our food! One summer the surrounding hillside caught fire and Italian army helped save the cottage we stayed in from burning down... They ate all our food too! Wild Rabbit potatoes & rosemary! porchetta at the local communist fair! The shooting season when idiots shot thier own dog by accident and tried to find the howling critter... Slices of parmesan offered to passers by on market days! Stealing melons in the middle of the night! And of course GRANITA DE CAFE! (espresso poured over shaved ice & sugar) I loved Tuscana - Saluti!

In Austin while at the South By South West festival last May a chum driving (Gearslutz guy Marty) pulled in fast to a very cool & hip esspresso bar because I was starting to foam at the mouth needing one.... Anyhow after imparting a few instructions to the VERY cute woman behind the bar on how I liked mine, she asked me in all seriousness if I would like to come round the counter - and make it MYSELF! Boy did she have my number! (and I wish I had hers...) So I did! Anyway, let it be known, in Austin Texas, they serve it JUST the way you want it!
