I first started using it because of the improved photo upload features, not as many bells and whistles as myspace for music uploads, but seems to run faster and stabler. A great book on it is here: www.fbbook.com written by one of the earliest engineers there.

its been my experience that this site is used exclusively by college freshmen who haven't the social skills to leave their dorms yet.
