Imho, try UBK-1, ClariphonicDSP, Nebula Pro 3, LX480, Exponential Audio Phoenix and R2 plugins. May change they way you look and use plugins.

Cheers

So what you're saying is, we should be mixing with nothing but panning and volume? no compression, EQ, saturation, etc.?
Or is this another "digital sucks, analog all the way" thing?

Well, you don't like plugins, okay. There's plenty of hardware out there to track good sounds. I think it's good to decide on the spot what a track needs and record it that way. Saves time on mixdown.

Your mama sucks the ''life'' out of ME

It's interesting as in numerous shoot-outs between the hardware and plugin equivalent most people either: can't tell the difference or; end up choosing the plugin THINKING it's the hardware.

Something about a poor craftsman blaming his tool etc etc

Seems an odd question, why should we prove you wrong?, is there a specific reason that you'd like strangers on a forum to prove a subjective opinion wrong?.

If you personally prefer hardware then stick with hardware!

It's unfortunate you haven't found any plugs you like. I have several that I enjoy quite a bit.

Could it be that your experience is tainted by a slow computer or a DAW that doesn't fit your workflow?

Why should anyone try to prove you wrong? You have your opinion, and I have mine. If you don't care for plugins, the answer is simple - don't use them.

The ignore function is such a great tool on this board. lets you eliminate people with stupid/ignorant opinions with just a click :D

We are all guilty of encouraging such attention seeking behaviour

No. jimsi is definitely NOT a troll! He has been in the GS community for a long time.

I just think he should have put this in the Moan Zone.

Also, maybe he is just having a bad day.I have had a few days like that myself.

Okay, plugins aren't usually as good as hardware. But a Nissan Altima also isn't as good as a BMW M5. So why do people drive Nissan Altima's then? Probably because they're a whole lot cheaper and they still get you to where you want to go, and due to speed limits, they'll get you there in the same amount of time.

And that's why I use plugins. I'd like to have a rack full of nice hardware compressors, but I can't afford them. What I can afford is one nice plugin compressor and use it at many times as I want, all at the same time, so long as my computer can keep up.

In the end, plugins get me to where I want to be for a whole lot less money. There's also a convenience issue of recall and workflow. I can call up an old mix and instantly have everything set to where it was. I also don't have to mess around with hooking up a bunch of wires every time I want to move a hardware compressor around in my signal chain.

In the Low End Theory forum, plugins make a whole lot of sense.

Why not just stick to hardware then? Seems like a simple solution.

Or hire someone to use the plugins for you.

Mowing the lawn sucks the life out of *me*. Solution: Hire a gardener.
