Myspace...Dot.com

I network with a few good people via myspace....but now it seems to be flooded with traffic since the media has gracefully RE-introduced it as "the site to meet young underaged girls"

Maybe its me and my crazy thinking.... and Myspace really is and has always been the only place on the internet that perverts go to meet young underaged girls(& boys).

sucks...but oh well, carry on.

This world is unfortunately filled with sick bastards. Fukking MySpace. I always get these *titty* girls wanting to be added to my list so they can promote some stupid web page of ass shots. Gimme a break.

I am however, having problems right now as my account was deleted or supposedly deactivated by myself. I don't get it.

yeah, although the benefits of myspace have been proven and are obvious,it has been extremely buggy of late..could it be that traffic is getting more than they can handle?
I also couldnt believe how a 16 year old wanted to start a IM chat with me..a 29 year old stranger other than that she liked my music!Maybe I'm just not internet savvy or "with it" but I was quite shocked!Quite scary how easy it must be for these sickos to get in touch with young girls or boys!

i'm waiting for google to take the reins of the myspace/friendster market...

at least they can handle the bandwidth.

hosting your info and music on myspace has become about as reliable as letting some 15 year old kid host your stuff for free directly from his Athlon gaming machine with a cable modem connection.

its not a professional solution at all. sure there's the "but its free" argument.
and to that i remind folks of how cheap it is to purchase a domain, have it hosted, and do it right. Not to be a complete snob, but maybe its the fact that its free that has turned it into the bloated, bleeding, heap of garbage that it is today.

I mean even the dive bar down the street knows to charge a $2 cover on Tuesday nights.

i hear that...however...your little page on your own domain is not gonna generate near the amount of traffic i get on a myspace page unless you spend a fortune on an ad campaign! which is why i wish that myspace would have a premium membership for serious artists

I have my own domain. Had it for a few yrs........website getting an upgrade as we speak.

but yes.....its about the traffic A.J. (how's the build coming? I saw the pics.) More visits more exposure...free exposure, Kinda like word of month..... added to what you already pay for.
I look at free sites like this:
Get 5,000 visits a yrs...but only 50 customers from that.
But each customer spents $500

Just image if the largest bank in the america took 1 penny out of every member's account one a yr..... 90% of the members would not notice it

I hope they fix myspace. It was a cool site.... hope they stop the porn type emails too.

For those being "hunted down" by underage girls. I'd be savvy about the possibilites of it actually being a defender of the peace attempting to nab
potential sex offenders.

The folks at Myspace are well aware of the possible dangers connected to their website. There have been 2 cases of foul play (kidnapping/murder/attempted rape)
connected to Myspace; out of millions of users. In contrast, I'm certain there have been hundreds of stings operated through the website.

I'm not saying, "watch out" (gross). I'm saying, don't believe what you see.

Who is or isnt a serious artist??? sure, some of the stuff on there is pretty off the wall (jokie stuff, just plain strange stuff (but not not art, or not not serious))

like Muse getting a front page (ad) spot and the ability to stream a whole record, does anyone think they, or Foo Fighters, or even NIN for that matter didnt pay something for that?

Thats probobaly some "serious" coin.

all that said, Myspace does have some great music on it doesnt it

and some of the best music on there is like 2000-4000 freinds, are they not serious?

and its a great way for establised artists to comunicate directly and get back to a more natural artist/fan connection. which is a good thing, I.E. POE

the problem is people have a diluted idea of what a freind is, induviduals with like 6000 bands on there freinds list, c'mon, thats stupid, i have like 200 bands on my personal list and I listened to, and continue to listen too, and like them all, if i dont ike it, i wont add it, like a real freind ,after a certain point its ghost promotion, and the bands that get good responce need to research their market (where their fans are) and do the old fashioned tour thing and bring the rock to the people.

Myspace is great for doing actual networking, you make a good page about yourself and people can get an idea of who you are/what you do...The music pages are terrific for new artists to get their name out... the idea is awesome, problem is their servers can't handle all the traffic so the website is really damn slow all the time and buggy as shit. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to post a blog and it come back with that "Sorry an Unexpected error has occured" etc... it's not that unexpected anymore, I've come to expect the errors now... they should rewrite the page to say - "An unexpected thing happened - your blog posted successfully" or something to that effect. :-)
