6 months to repair a guitar?

i have a martin guitar that i wanted set-up properly by a qualified martin luthier, so i shipped it off to one in new york last year. in the process, USPS smashed the bottom of the guitar, leaving quite a massive crack, despite the fact that it was in its hardshell case and scrupulously packed in a sturdy box.. anyway to make a long story short, i paid the luthier who i shipped it to for the original set-up to also repair the damage. he got my payment the 20th of january, and he STILL has my guitar. his original invoice stated a turn-around time of 6-8 weeks, and it's been 6 months now, and he's given me no indication of when exactly i can expect to get it back.

i have a right to be angry and complain about this, don't i? i mean, this isn't normal procedure in the world of guitar luthiers, is it? at this point i wonder if i'll ever see the guitar again.
