Thumbs down You can always count on software...

to bring creativity to a halt. Just spent an hour experimenting with some trippy vocal effects. Came up with some cool sounds. Audio stops playing, then BANG

Crash. Didn't save yet, of course.

WTF

That's a bummer

I save compulsively at this point.

Every time something even remotely cool happens, I save. Come to think of it, pretty much any time anything happens I save.

Get habitual about it. You'll be glad you did.

I have campaigned for years for an incremental autosave.
No-one seems to get it, until this happens.

AH well.

Oops, now something got messed up, where's my previous version? Ah, there's the automatic backup. Ooops, must have happened before that, now what...?

Which is why I manually save with a new number every time I save (project1, project2, etc). I can always go back to an earlier version, even if it's just to retrieve a mixer setting or whatever.

great thing about daw's is the undo/step backward option. how many undo's can you do now?

but i agree, saving a separate session to have as a clean slate should be common practice.
